Katherine Meredith Portraits

Procedures and Fees

PROCEDURE

The first step is to arrange for a consultation meeting. We will discuss all aspects of the portrait: pose, mood, setting, clothing, and other details, as well as the size of the painting and where the portrait might be displayed.

We will discuss ideas for the composition, and I will develop an understanding of what the client has in mind, and decide how to proceed.

I like to meet and spend time with the subjects, and take 50-100 photographs in several settings. During the photo session, I learn more about the spirit and personality of the subject, and more compositional ideas emerge. The client is encouraged to share ideas.

We review the photos together, either in person or by telephone, and make choices about the final composition and details. I, then, begin working on the portrait in my studio, using the finest quality materials, to create a portrait you'll cherish for a lifetime, and which will last for generations. I will ship the portrait, or deliver it personally, and make any necessary refinements and finishing touches.

Occasionally, a client has a favorite photo they'd like me to work from. This is possible, depending on the quality of the photo. In the case of memorial portraits, I will work from photos you provide.
